Should you undergo a breast reduction?
Many women with large breasts wonder if they should undergo a breast reduction – especially if they experience physical and emotional distress due to their chests on a daily basis. With that said, here are the key ways you can tell that your breasts are too large for your body, and thus will likely benefit from a reduction with Dr. Scarpidis:
- Your breasts are large and heavy in comparison to the rest of your body.
- Your nipples and areolas point downward, rather than straight ahead.
- Your breasts prohibit you from exercising, moving freely and participating in physical activities.
- Your breasts are asymmetrical, with one being larger than the other.
- Your bra commonly leaves marks on your shoulders.
- Your breasts cause you emotional discomfort and/or embarrassment.
- It’s difficult to find clothes that can accommodate your large breasts.
If any of the above issues apply to you, there’s a strong chance that you may benefit from a breast reduction, which will create a firm and lifted chest that boosts your confidence and is substantially more comfortable. However, the only way to know for sure is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Scarpidis, so he can perform a careful evaluation and provide you with personalized guidance regarding whether or not this procedure is in your best interest.

The breast reduction procedure
Dr. Scarpidis never performs the same breast reduction twice. He believes that because every woman possesses her own unique goals and physique, every woman deserves a custom breast reduction that’s tailored to her. As such, he will work closely with you during the planning stages of your treatment to ensure he sculpts breasts that are not only objectively more beautiful and manageable – but also look and feel like they belong on your body.
To begin your breast reduction surgery, Dr. Scarpidis will administer general anesthesia to ensure your comfort and safety, before taking one of two incision approaches. If you suffer from very large breasts and severe drooping, he’ll likely use an anchor incision, which is the most invasive option – but also allows for the most dramatic results. This approach involves making incisions along the breast crease that extend up and around the nipple. On the other hand, if you have large breasts and not as much excess fat and tissue, he may instead use a vertical or lollipop incision, which results in less scarring. In this case, he’ll make one incision around the nipple and another small cut down the front of the breast. Regardless of the incision used, Dr. Scarpidis will then remove the sagging skin and unwanted fat, artfully sculpting your breasts and repositioning the nipple and areola to achieve the precise size, shape, position and contour you desire.
