What can a breast lift accomplish?
As women gain and lose weight, experience pregnancy and progress through the aging process, the breasts go through some fairly substantial changes. In addition to drooping and deflating, the areolas often enlarge and the breast skin may begin to sag. When this occurs, a breast lift is the only way to:
- Elevate heavy, sagging breasts.
- Eliminate the excess volume that’s causing the breasts to droop.
- Reduce overly large areolas.
- Correct asymmetrical breasts and bring balance and harmony to the chest.
- Return drooping nipples to a more youthful position.
- Sculpt beautiful, youthful and firm breasts.
A breast lift that’s tailored specifically to you
Because there are countless ways the breasts can droop, deflate and lose their shape – and because each woman possesses her own unique goals and physique – leading plastic surgeon Dr. Scarpidis doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to breast lifts. Rather, he believes that every woman deserves a customized procedure that is perfectly tailored to her.
Taking into account the severity of the drooping, the position of your breasts and nipples, the elasticity of your skin and whether or not you’ll require volume enhancement through breast augmentation, Dr. Scarpidis will guide you through the planning stages of your treatment, and help you determine which breast lift approach and custom blend of procedures will best achieve the firm, beautiful and perky chest you desire.
The breast lift procedure.
To begin your breast lift in NYC, Dr. Scarpidis will administer general anesthesia to ensure your comfort and safety. From there, he will make one of three careful incisions, depending on the severity of your sagging breasts. For example, if you suffer from a substantial amount of excess tissue and skin, he will likely use the anchor approach, making precise incisions along the areola, extending down to the bottom of the breast and running along the breast crease. If you have less sagging skin, he may use the lollipop approach, which involves an incision around your nipple and a small cut down the front of your breast. And, if you need to remove a limited amount of tissue, he will apply the doughnut technique, making small incisions only around your nipples and areolas.
Once the incision has been made, Dr. Scarpidis will elevate and re-contour your breasts, artfully sculpting the perky chest you desire. He will also take special care to adjust the position of the nipple and areola, to achieve a balanced and youthful overall look. The final step of the procedure involves removing sagging or wrinkled skin on the breasts, before closing the incisions in such a way to minimize any scarring.

Are you a candidate for a breast lift?
A breast lift is the ideal procedure for healthy women who want to lift and re-shape drooping breasts – without adding volume. It can be performed on both small and large breasts, though smaller breasts may maintain their results better over time. To be considered a candidate for this procedure, you should be finished having children and breast-feeding, as both of these experiences can stretch the breasts and cause them to droop and lose volume all over again. Often times, a breast lift or breast augmentation are done as part of a mommy makeover.
