Laser Peel - Scarpidis Aesthetics

What is a Laser Peel?

Our NYC Laser Peel treatment can be very successful at reducing wrinkles and fine lines, and is one of the best ways to address problematic areas around the mouth and eyes. Though there are several different types of lasers used to perform peels, the Contour TRL is widely regarded as the safest, most effective laser available and is housed here at Scarpidis Aesthetics.

How does a Contour TRL Laser Peel work?

Contour Total Resurfacing Laser works by safely removing a layer of skin to a depth determined by your physician. The depth of your treatment will greatly depend on the skin condition being addressed and your desired outcomes. Because the Contour TRL can affect tissue with micron precision, we can treat your skin with the exact amount of energy needed – no more, no less. Treating skin with a laser stimulates the growth of new collagen, which improves the skin’s thickness and resilience. Once complete, the skin surface will re-grow with fresh, healthy cells, which will give your skin a younger more rejuvenated appearance.

What areas of the body can be treated?

Several areas of the body can be treated, though the most commonly treated areas are the face and neck, and laser skin peels are often combined with traditional plastic surgery procedures to further improve results. You should discuss your needs with your physician.

How many treatments will I need?

Because Contour Total Resurfacing Laser is capable of deep laser peels, excellent results are typically achieved after one treatment.

What will happen during your treatment?

During you laser skin resurfacing in NYC, your skin on the treatment area will be cleaned and your eyes will be shield properly to protect them. One of specialist will position the laser hand-piece above the skin and hold it in place as the computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam around the treatment area. The procedure usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being addressed.

Will it be uncomfortable?

The comfort level of laser resurfacing varies from patient to patient. It greatly depends on the depth of treatment being administered. For a shallow treatment, the treatment is often tolerated with the use of a topical anesthetic. For a more deeper treatment, we may administer a subcutaneous local anesthetic.

What should I expect immediately after the treatment?

Immediately following our NYC laser skin resurfacing you may experience redness and sensations resembling a sunburn. Swelling can also occur. Our specialist will advise you on specific after-treatment care recommendations, that can include analgesics and application of an ointment to keep the skin moist.

What is the recovery time?

Complete healing will depend largely on the depth of treatment that was administered. With a more shallow treatment, healing times are typically 3-4 days before patients resume normal activities. For deeper treatments, you should discuss realistic expectations for recovery with your specialist.

Do I need aftercare?

Our treatment specialist may give you skin care products and instructions on how to use them after your laser skin resurfacing treatment. It is worth noting that your skin will be more sensitive to ultra-violet light after the procedure, so you should avoid direct sun exposure until your skin is fully healed. It is also recommended that you always use some level of solar protection to avoid any sun damage and premature aging of your skin.

When should I expect results?

The top layer of your skin will re-grow and can be covered with makeup after about a week, at which time you will see noticeable improvements in your skin’s texture, tone and wrinkle appearance. When you receive a deeper laser treatment, you will also stimulate the growth of new collagen over the next 4 to 6 months. During this time, the skin may show increasing improvements in tightness and resilience. Be sure you go over what you expectations are with our specialist to ensure you receive the best outcome for this versatile treatment.
