Leg Liposuction Procedures
Depending on the liposuction technique used, leg liposuction in NYC can generally be performed under local anesthesia. Micro cannulas (less than 3mm) are used in leg liposuction procedures to allow for precise fat removal and sculpting.
When tumescent liposuction is used, tiny micro-incisions are placed in strategic locations and fluid is injected to make the treatment area tumescent (swollen) to aid in fat removal and contouring. The fluid contains epinephrine and lidocaine to help reduce bleeding and bruising and to make the treatment more comfortable for the patient.
Leg Liposuction Recovery
There is very little bleeding with tumescent liposuction. After the procedure, the tiny incisions are left open so the fluid injected into the treatment area can drain from the body over the next few days. Absorbent pads are placed over the treatment sites and a compression garment is worn over the treatment area.
You may feel groggy after the procedure and more tired than usual over the next several days. The compression garment must be worn continuously for 48 hours after the procedure. After that, it can be removed for a shower but must be worn consistently as instructed by Dr. Scarpidis.
Vaseline or heavy skin cream may be applied to the treated areas to relieve itching. Patients are encouraged to deeply massage these areas 3 times a day for 5 to 6 weeks after the procedure.
Benefits of Leg Liposuction
Most women want beautiful, shapely legs, but getting them through diet and exercise alone may be a challenge. While eating well and working out may help reduce excess fat and improve overall fitness, it may not be sufficient to achieve the shape you want.
At Scarpidis Aesthetics, we perform thigh liposuction to reduce stubborn fat deposits and sculpt the legs into shapelier, more pleasing contours. Whether your body is predisposed to accumulate fat in the thighs or the calves and lower legs, calf liposuction and thigh liposuction in NYC can produce dramatically pleasing results.
Unfortunately, there is only so much you can do for your legs with diet and exercise alone. It does not always work as a solution for thick calves and ankles or heavy “saddlebag” thighs, particularly when it is a result of a genetic propensity. To find out if you are a candidate for leg liposuction in New York, schedule a consultation with Dr. Scarpidis.
